Things You Need to Do When Radiator is Not Heating Up

The radiator is the prime element in your HVAC system that distributes heat evenly to your entire home. Its functional efficiency will decide whether your boiling unit is working ideally or not. If the radiator is not heating up properly, here is what you need to do:

What to do?

1. Central boiling unit and heating process

Check for any bigger issue with the heating system of your HVAC unit. Find out whether the boiler and the central heating system are working properly or not. If all the radiators are not working then the issue is with the central heating system. If one of the radiators is not working, you can localise the issue.

2. Trapped air

Most of the time, trapped air inside the pipes of a radiator can cause improper heating of the rooms. This happens when the air inside the heated water escapes and gets trapped in the radiator system causing hindrance to the flow of heated water. This is one of the prime reasons for the radiator not heating up.

3. Valves

If the radiator is hot on the top but not at the bottom when you must check the valves. Check the valves on both sides and ensure whether they are open or not. If the valves are not working properly, you will have to replace them with a better one.

4. Deposition of debris

The channels in a radiator get choked due to the deposition of debris. It is one of the main reasons for the radiator not heating up. Power-flushing can help you resolve this issue. It should be done by an efficient radiator maintenance service provider.

5. Seek professional help

Call in a professional engineer to diagnose the underlying problem. It is better you get the radiators checked by an experienced professional to find the problem!
